Assoc. Prof.
Benchawan Wiwatanapataphee obtained her PhD degree from Curtin University in 1998. She then worked in the
Department of Mathematics at Mahidol University, initially as an Assistant Professor, then as an Associate
Professor, and later as a Professor and Deputy Head of Department. In 2015, Dr Wiwatanapataphee moved to
Curtin University in Perth, where she has been working as an Associate Professor, conducting research and
teaching in the Discipline of Mathematics and Statistics within the School of Electrical Engineering,
Computing, and Mathematical Sciences.
Dr Wiwatanapataphee's research expertise is in Computational Mathematics and its
application to science, engineering, and finance. She has strong research experience in computational
science applications where computing plays a central and essential role. She has made various contributions
to the development of innovative computational methods and algorithms for important scientific research and
engineering problems.
Dr Wiwatanapataphee has supervised over twenty Ph.D. students and twelve MSc
students to completion. She has won nine national competitive research grants from her research, including
one ARC research grant, two grants from the Thailand Research Funds, two grants from the National Science
and Technology Development Agency of Thailand, and four grants from other organizations in Thailand. Dr.
Wiwatanapataphee has published over hundred refereed papers in prestigious international journals.
Dr Wiwatanapataphee's research works are well recognized internationally and have
received various awards and prizes. She has acted as an expert assessor on research grant applications for
the Australian Research Council, the Thailand Research Funds (TRF), the National Science and Technology
Development Agency (NSTDA), and the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). Dr Wiwatanapataphee has
acted as an associate editor for Cogent Mathematics (Computational Science section), a lead guest editor for
a special issue of Mathematical Problems in Engineering, a guest editor for the Abstract and Applied
Analysis special issue: Nonlinear Functional Analysis of Complex Boundary Value Problems, and a guest editor
for a special issue of Dynamics of Discrete, Continuous and Impulsive System B.
